Ippodo Tea Co.

Murray Hill, Manhattan, NYC

Unfortunately long gone, Ippodo Tea used to have an outpost just a few blocks from Grand Central Station. It was a beautiful shop with a the kind of dark, moody illumination I like to call “Japanese light”. There was a sitting room in the back that looked great, but I was always just passing through and never got to enjoy that aspect of the space.

This is another one of those “I thought I have 50 more pictures of this place” scenarios. Maybe I’ll stumble across some more one day.

In my hunt for more of my imagery from this place, I stumbled across these fun little “Tea Leaf-lets” with instructions on brewing Gyokuro, Sencha, and Matcha. I could tell right away from the wood that I took these on the floor at my apartment in Kingston, NY. When they renovated that house, they ripped up all the flooring down to the sub-floor and discovered this beautiful wood, so they just finished that sub flooring. It was beautiful, but you could also see right down into the basement between the floorboards, haha.
