Di Fara Pizza

Midwood, Brooklyn, New York

Iconic basil snipping

Di Fara is among the most legendary pizza shops in NYC, renown for doing neapolitan style pies long before they became common across the nation. Theirs is kind of a hybrid between your classic new york pie and goopy wet neo, and what an experience it is.

It being out in what might feel like the middle of nowhere compared to the parts of NYC most people visit makes it a bit of a pilgrimage, which adds to the mystique.

Photography Notes:

Jesus these are overexposed. There was a period around this time that very bright images were all the rage on Instagram. I’m really temped to haul the RAWs out and re-edit these to be dark and moody the way I like my images now, but I’m going to resist for your benefit. I think it’s really important beginners see the journey through my images rather than see my more recent work as some unachievable pillar.
